The most sustainable piece of jewelry is the one that is worn for a lifetime. Everything we do — the stone, the metal, the hand — serves that single ambition.
Chapter I
A stone born from light.
Every Etoffe moissanite is grown in a laboratory in North Carolina, crystal by crystal, over the course of several days. No river is diverted, no earth is displaced, no community is asked to bear the cost of our jewelry.
The gemological result is not a compromise. Moissanite is harder than sapphire and refracts light more brilliantly than diamond. We chose it because it is beautiful — and because its origin is a record we can hold, in full, without turning away.
Each stone is graded by an independent laboratory. The certificate travels with the piece, in a linen pouch, on the day it leaves the atelier.
Chapter II
Only metal that has already lived.
Every gram of gold, platinum and silver we cast is 100% recycled — melted from post-consumer sources, refined in Europe, and re-alloyed to our specifications. No new metal enters the maison.
Our refinery is certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council and audited annually. Chain of custody is documented from the scrap to the setting.
Off-cuts, dust, and polishing residues return to the refinery. Nothing that once held light is discarded.
Chapter III
The hand is the shortest supply chain.
Sustainability is not only material. It is also the person who shapes the material — how they are treated, and for how long.

One artisan
Each piece is made from first cut to final polish by a single hand in Italy — never a line, never a subcontractor.

Fair hours
Our atelier works a 35-hour week. Nothing is faster because someone stayed longer than they should have.

Living wage
Every person in the maison, from apprentice to master, earns above the Italian living wage. Craft is paid for.

Repair for life
We resize, re-tip, re-polish and re-stone every Etoffe piece, for as long as it exists. The invoice is the guarantee.
Chapter IV
An object built to be kept.
The greenest gesture we know is longevity. We design for a piece that will be worn every day for forty years, then handed on. Prongs are sized to last a lifetime, not a season. Clasps are chosen for the fingers of a future owner.
Packaging is unbleached linen, uncoated card and cotton twine — recyclable, compostable, or reusable, and always quiet. No plastic enters the atelier. Shipments travel by ground within Europe wherever the calendar allows.
When a piece is no longer wanted, we take it back. The metal returns to the refinery. The stone returns to a new setting. The object continues — as everything at Etoffe is meant to.
